Yatton Church Exterior

The parish church of All Saints Yatton is situated on the old Ross-on-Wye to Much Marcle road 5 miles west of Much Marcle on Perrystone Hill. The parish is mentioned in the Domesday Book as being within the "Greitreu Hundred" (Greytree Hundred). The old chapel was erected during the 12th century but by the 19th century had fallen into poor repair. In 1841 a replacement chapel was designed and erected under the supervision of William Roberts of Chepstow. It was ¾ of a mile from the original chapel.

In 1903 Mr. E.P.Warren of Westminster was commisoned to extend the chapel to a church in memory of the late Sybella Lady Lyttelton. The builder was a Mr. Godfrey. Items were recovered from the earlier chapel including the oak screen and Communion rail. Other items were donated, including the new oak pulpit and an oak lectern, and the black and white marble flooring was paid for by the parishioners. In 1908 the bell tower was erected and heating installed.

2011-2013. Major repairs and improvements were completed including refurbishing the windows, new organ, new heating and refurbishing the roof and lead work. The bell turret and reinstalling the bell was completed in 2014.

The Record has been sponsored by The Arts Society Ross-on-Wye (previously the Ross-on-Wye Decorative and Fine Arts Society).
